I’ve Decided to Keep Smugmug

Yesterday I was conversing with a friend that recently signed up with zenfolio.  I saw his galleries and was very impressed.  I’ve been a smug mugger (pro) for over a year and couldn’t remember why I originally choose smug over zen.  So today I revisited my smug account.

Smugmug is a great gallery tool.  I really like the customization available and spent time today improving mine.  I recall that a year ago the customization was not nearly as user friendly.  As of today, my smugmug account (lifeandlens.smugmug.com) has a very complimentary “look and feel” to my primary site.

I also refined the organization of my galleries.  I found this customization to be quite easy.  I also created two pricing mechanisms and applied them universally to my galleries.

I did post two questions today to the smugmug help site and both were answered quite quickly (less than 3 hours).  Though the second response wasn’t very helpful.  I’ll try to be more clear about my questions.

It would take a lot more time to do a side by side comparison, I’d love to see someone do that effectively, but for now I say “Smugmug rules!”

New Site for Life and Lens Photography

Today marks the launch of the new www.lifeandlens.com website.  It features a much cleaner look, news on the home page, and a new design for upcoming galleries.  Here is the home page showing the final image of a 26 image slideshow.

The NEW Life and Lens Website!

The NEW Life and Lens Website!

The site was crafted using Sitegrinder 2.  Sitegrinder works in conjunction with Photoshop and turns “layer comps” in to separate web pages.  I was able to design and build the entire new site in only 2 hours and 15 minutes.  Wow!

If anyone is interested in my thoughts about Sitegrinder, definately reach out and contact me.

Enjoy the new site!
